Regular Posts: 61  Location: London, England | Yeah, as the titles says...it's starting to resemble a scene from one of those old western flicks when bandits have run all the folks out of town WTF!! I see Nitro and Soup getting on the empty server sometimes waiting to get a game going (and they/we have once or twice). But what the hell is going on ppl? And knowone can just tell me it's completely down to these MW2/BBC2 games, because I'm still seeing UO servers in the US & UK like Historians, United Noobs, Lakes, GITS, EW and MM Playground running 30-55 ppl games. And yes, some of the HP regulars (like me) are playing on them too cause HP Foy is always empty NOW!!%#? I always check HP Foy first when I log on to Xfire, and sometimes do just get on and lark-around by myself for a bit waiting for someone to join and get a game going. Come on guys, lets make a real effort to get back on Foy (even if just the weekends for now) before this server and community disappears because the BOD ain't seeing knowone use them. Empty servers do not also justify the monthly cost to run them if unpopulated too! An admins answer to this is "just get on the servers" - completely right guys YES! Don't abbandond this thing we have here (to something we USED to have!!). Man I will shed a tear if this server, or even community goes to pot! Lets get back the love and fun like we used to have before. Peace.  | ||

Veteran Posts: 120  Location: Québec, Canada | Well, I'm an old HP turned AS... I used to go on Foy every other evening, now I would only drop once every two weeks. And recently, the HP UO-Foy server disappeared from the main servers' list. I though HP-Foy was dead... I felt depressed a lot. I still don't know if the server's actually dead or not. Everytime I try to connect, I get a message saying the server couldn't be found... I've spent lots of great moments on Foy. But over the last months, I noticed people were complaining about the nature of Foy itself: the fact that it's the same map and game type 24/7. Lots of HP members playing on Foy were actually people coming from the dead HP UO-Rotation server. I was one of them. When the server closed, we the guys at UO-Rotation naturally moved to HP-Foy, so we could be with our HP friends. But many wanted to play on other maps, so we were going on other servers. And then, some just didn't come back as often (like me), some didn't came back at all. After a few games on AS, a retrieval server, I found what I was looking for: different maps, different challenges. A game type which is often more about brains than skills. But I always came back on Foy when I wanted some good old TDM. Foy is probably the best map for that. After spending quite some time there, I realized that they were as nice as the people on HP, so I joined their community. And everytime I went on Foy, less and less people were there. Many complained about the tank ownage abuse and said they'd rather play elsewhere, others wanted HP-Foy to become a new HP-Rotation and eventually went on rotation servers, etc. In short, a lot of HP members just weren't entirely satisfied by Foy. It's difficult to satisfy everyone with a single server. That's why there are so many servers out there... However, the issue of Foy (people not satisfied leaving the server and not coming back) was not adressed with and, over time, more people found what they were looking for on other servers. I have myself predicted the death of Foy about 12 months ago... and unfortunately, it starting to look like I was right. The survival of HP-Foy lies in its members coming back. But how do you find them and bring 'em back, I'm asking you? Not with an empty server, that's for sure. But if we can get 10 people on the server at least a few times a week, it might just work. I must say I miss Foy these days. Not so much for the map, mainly for the nice people playing on the server. Jack, Nitro, Crep, Duffman, Soup and BTW, just to name a very, very few. I'll try to drop in to see if there's any action in the next days. I hope I can manage to send another satchel inside a full room of Germans... all rushing at the door to get out!  I really hope HP-Foy will survive its demise. | ||

Veteran Posts: 120 Location: Québec, Canada | Gotta admit, moving the server from Texas to Canada in the first place made HP-Foy lose a few players. Some didn't even know the server had moved and thought it just was shut down. I wouldn't be the one to complain, since moving in Canada meant my ping went from 100 to 50. A big improvement. But since many HP players are in the US, I wouldn't mind losing 30 points of ping if it'd help bring back some players. But more important than server location is our presence on it. We of the HP community (and those who left it but still play here) must show the example and come on a more regular basis. A server with only 4 players who keep on playing will attract other players eventually. A server with only 4 players disconnecting after 20 minutes is gonna remain empty. On a side note, I noticed the changes made to the server. Most welcome, I must say. The Call Vote option means the players can switch to another map when they're tired of playing Foy and yet it will go back at Foy eventually. Nice work, let's just do our best to keep this server alive!  | ||
