Happy Penguin relies on donations to keep the servers alive, so if you like our servers and our community, any amount you may be able to contribute is greatly appreciated. Every little bit helps! Donations can be made via our PayPal account.
The Servers are maintained by the Illuminati, consisting of Stinky, BodyBag and PissedWookie. They have access to the server logs, files, configs, software etc, as well as contact with the data center.
There are 6 members of the Board of Directors, who oversee the daily operations of HP, 5 of which vote on new HP applicants, seeking input from Server Administrators and other members as required. The BoD can also help you with issues pertaining to the Happy Penguin forums.
We do not view Happy Penguin as a hierarchy or chain of command. The Board of Directors main duties are the voting on memberships and maintaining the servers. We also discuss and act on current and ongoing issues that may arise, ie. how to deal with tk'ers, recruiters, members who are being assholes, creating new admins, and membership applications. All issues are discussed and voted on, with each member having an equal vote. We want and encourage Members and Server Admins to provide input (constructive criticism, suggestions etc), as we understand these are the people who help to make our community a success. In reality, there is an unwritten philosophy of "less is more" when dealing with issues... meaning, we really try NOT to control things but let them run themselves, this includes the servers and the membership. We only intervene when absolutely necessary.
Server Administrators are chosen from the HP membership and can assist you in server related issues. They are able to assist with server restarts, problem players (warnings, kicks & bans), and any other issues you may wish HP to address. As noted above, their input will be sought when new members apply to be in Happy Penguin.

HP - The Membership
Previously we held a system of red and gold tag status (red for new members ; gold for long term, well respected members). Due to changes in the tools we used to vote, and also due to alot of new games no longer having a color distinction for player names, the red & gold tag system has been replaced with a single level of membership.
Members are voted in by 5 members of the Board (Stinky, BodyBag, Hauptman Meyer, PissedWookie & BTW). These BoDs will seek input from other HP members and Server Administrators for their opinions as to whether an applicant is to be voted in.
Just a little note about membership. Remember, we are NOT a clan. The membership was started by people who loved playing on the Happy Penguin server so much they wanted to wear the initials of the server next to their name. They did not set out to create a competitive gaming group, just a bunch of fun, good nature, usually fairly capable, players. To this day the main criteria the Board use to judge applications are, "does he/she play here alot? How well do we know this person? " We also ask ourselves, "Are they decent people (ie not assholes, spammers, cheaters, etc)? Are they members of a clan?"
Please remember, all members of Happy Penguin are responsible for its success. Please send your requests and suggestions up through the Admins and Board of Directors. If we don't know its broken we can't fix it. After all its ultimately the players who will decide which directions Happy Penguin goes in the future. If there's a game we need to be supporting please let us know.
