In all honesty I really don't think there's anything more that can be done with our older servers. The best advice I can give HP would be to move on and try to support the new games as best you can. Generally what I do each year is support the latest COD game. This year has been great for me because both COD1 and COD MW2 were released at the same time for PS3 so I've been able to support both.

Hey, Hey, Hey! Long time no see. Looking around seeing how HP is doing.. not looking too hot I see . This may not help revive the other servers but I do suggest that HP should consider (if they already haven't) getting a server for COD: Black OPs in November. The fact is, the other games are dead (i refused to believe that for the last 3 years) and there are not enough of us to be on at all times to keep it somewhat half full. Unfortunately the new Wolf SUCKED. So I guess to keep HP alive we need to move with the flow and see if we can start HP back up with this new game coming out. It may not be like the old days back in 02 and 03.. but this may work. Hope to see some of you on then!

P.S. I am on MW2 on xbox from time to time (sometimes a roommates are playing on account.. so sorry if i dont respond) gamertag is Kangaroo Kizzee

Unfortunately it may not be possible to have a COD Black Op's server if the game is setup the same as COD MW2 which I'm thinking it probably will be. Over the past couple of years online gaming seems to have shifted away from centrally located servers and are now more focused on lobby type systems and servers being hosted on home\residential internet connections. Not that that's a bad thing residential internet connections certainly have come a long way over the past few years and for the most part are capable of handling 12-18 players.

The only issue I have with the way these games are setup is not being able create a public server. However there is one new COD game for the consoles which gives you that option and it's the re release of COD1 for PS3 and X360. The reason I say it allows you to create a public server is because it offers player matches which is like private match except it's public. In all honesty I don't think game company's are gonna go back to the way things were done in the past. I think the MW2 type setups are here to stay. The only difference I think we'll see in the future is the addition of player matches.

By the way I play both COD1 and COD MW2 on my PS3 so if your ever on please feel free to send a message to xHAWKEYEx or HPxHAWKEYEx

See you on the battle field.

I see what your saying. I hear that the new COD will have dedicated servers though. I do not know alot about servers however, a lot of pc gamers are happy to hear that there will be dedicated servers. I am aware that the WaW server was not that successful, however if we watch and see which servers are successful. We can try to do what they do. Hopefully we can get alot of our old friends from rtcw and older COD games to buy this new game...

Yes, Black Ops will have Dedi's. I expect it to be more restricted likeBFBC2 but it will be better than nothing I suppose. Hard to say what we'll be dealing with until we can get our hands on a copy. Also sad to see HP in a slump. I think a lot of communities have slowed down due to all of the crap we've been dealing with lately from game developers. A fresh start could help re-motivate people though. I'd love to redo this site for you guys but I left HP a long time ago so I may not qualify for such a project.

Good luck.

I was pretty much gonna say the same thing. It's great news that it will have dedicated servers but it all depends how they use them. We'll just have to wait and see.

Hey all, it has been a long time. My belief the attendance problem is due to conflicts caused by upgrading systems. Support for older games have basically been abandoned, but progress in operating systems have not. Locating fixes and work arounds to get the games to work properly are difficult at best. My suggestion to reignite the passion, is not a problem that we solve with gimmicky resolutions. However, those that love these older games (in my case COD1), is to get game developers to do a major overhaul of the original games, and re release it. I believe that doing so, would have a major recall for those that love the game. They are simply outdated due to the things I have mentioned. Maybe a surge of people pushing to have a revamp of the games made, would motivate them to make it happen.

These things will not stop me from getting back into my favorite game! See ya soon

Hi folks,

STDR here. I will be honest. I did not read the entire thread. However, I did just re-install RTCW just to see how the community was going. I played on the Depot (omni mod) server not knowing the majority of players were bots. Nonetheless, it was fun, I will admit.

Before, which, computer crashed and never re-installed RTCW since I have been representing the (HP) clan as a member in ETQW thanks to Natural Causes. So, I am guilty of "moving on". But, I still have a lot of heart felt fun on RTCW between the time I spent on the RRX and HP servers! I am also trying to revive another fun game I love which is Doom 3 with the LMS mod. I miss the old days of Depot All the Time and my old friends LZXray, Emily, Seegster, Hawk, Laser, Spud, Blood, man....the list can go on ad finitum! Ok, enough waxing. So, but, yeah! I would love to keep the love alive! Let's build towers together, shoot each other, nade each other, chat spam each other, INCOMING.....LOL, man what I would do to get the good ol' days back.

Don't get me wrong...I love my other games too (all Id games: Doom3, ETQW, ET, Q3, Q4, UrT) but every now and then I love to get back to my roots.

PM me or email SoTexasDeathRide@stx.rr.com to arrange a good time! (yeah, you Natural Causes)

Peace, ya'll.
